Lumenate Nova

I started using just the app when it first came out and purchased a year's subscription and loved it.
Towards the end of the subscription the Nova was under development. I was excited to try the Nova.

It comes in a nice sleek box and packaged well with Laminate on the outer box. The postman has got something good for me.

I unpack and find a bag for the Nova, a USB C cable, manual with QR code and was told to scan to activate my Nova.

A quick log in and update the Nova to the newest software which took seconds the eye mask was ready to use and already fully charged.

There is an introduction to the Nova which you are guided into using the device. There is even a guest mode for people who want to try it.

For me, when I used just the app on my phone, I didn't like nodding off with my phone in my hand. That's where the Nova comes in. Consider it a sleep mask but with flashing, flickering lights that when your eyes are closed, creates visuals like tunnels, colours and even emotions due to the music.

There's many sessions, although I would like more. My favourites are the Mind Games by John Lennon and especially the explore your mind sessions. If I don't feel sleepy after a session then the drift off or befriend sleep and others in the sleep range are just perfect. Some sessions are about 10 minutes with the longest about 20-30 minutes.

I have used it daily since purchasing and I have not had to charge it once.

There is a detachable eye cover which you can clean if you need to.

To have the best experience, use headphones. If you don't own a pair you can just use the lights and have the phone on loud... you will still benefit.

If you want to explore your mind, calm down those racing thoughts before bed, need some "me" time for reflection, use this.

On my recent trip abroad, a fellow passenger saw it and wanted to try so I put it into guest mode and let him experience a short version with the relevant medical advice given by the app.

My only wish was that earphones were somehow built into the Nova which I assume Team Laminate have already explored and found was not suitable for the Nova.

Following a purchase, I received an official data breach notification stating that customer personal and payment information may have been exposed. I had to block my card as a precaution. Disappointing situation.

I was skeptical when I saw the Facebook ad, but definitely intrigued. I did the trial on my phone with the flashlight and really liked the concept, but balancing my phone was awkward. I decided to order and give it a shot.
As soon as it arrived I popped it on. OMG so much brighter than my phone light. With my eye shut, I still felt like I needed to blink — I loved it. I have a wild imagination so I see all kinds of visuals and colors constantly in motion, pulsing and catching my focus.
Let me rewind here. I am a lifetime insomniac, and my ADHD brain runs WILD at bedtime. I recently bought the Somnee sleep headband and it works fantastically, but I still find myself putting it on and doomscrolling on my phone. So adding some focused meditation that completely blocks my ability to access my phone would be perfect.
The past week I’ve been wearing both at bedtime and doing a 20-minute session. I KNOCK out! Each night I wake up in a bed of electronics (sleep headband, Somnee, and my AirPods). But I’m rested with a proper night of sleep.
I’m a sucker for a Facebook ad — this one got me, and it was worth every penny.
I’m currently being targeted for the Woojer haptic mat. Anyone else have it? I’m thinking the combination of the three would be relaxation heaven.

So far, it’s been an incredible experience. In every session with NOVA, my mind transports me to different places and evokes different sensations. For anyone looking to expand their imagination, NOVA is an excellent choice.

Fantastic experience from the beginning. The relaxation it brings is off the charts. I use my Nova before bed and my sleep has never been so good. Every time is different, what I see, feel, the colours, shapes, images, never predictable and never the same but afterwards I'm always left with a sense of calm. I'm not a big stressy person and was suprised about how calm and relaxed it makes feel afterwards, it just shuts down my thinking completely and leaves me in a very quiet place. Love it.

Great product! Been helping me sleep better, meditate better, recharge in the middle of the day, dig deep into my subconscious.

The Nova device is really good. I think in the future a silk tissue would be better and more comfortable on the skin.
What is not so good is that even the basic program has to be payed: just to session are free which is to little considering that the cost of the device. I would have expected that at least the initial 4 step were free.

I tried the app for a week and loved it. The only downside to the app is that you have to hold your phone close to your face. I have a cat that kept jumping up on my bed and I was worried that the flashing light might bother him so I decided to buy the Nova and it was a great purchase. I use it daily sometimes twice a day and really enjoy the calmness. I feel afterwards I like using my own music sometimes, but I also find the app has a lot of good selections as well.

Really enjoying the product so far. I love that I can use other Apps with the LUMENATE App and product. 👍👍

Great experience

I genuinely cannot over express how remarkable this is. Am ADHD and autistic and have been meditating for about 4 years now. While meditation has been helpful, it has been hard for me to get into a pure state of presence. I tend to get stressed out trying to meditation when I can't "drop in" because of my overactive mind.

Since I've received the Nova on Kickstarter, I have been able to be completely present and aware in the colors and sounds. I feel like it's a deeper form of meditation, where I come away from every session with new groundbreaking insights. I've teared up on a few sessions with the sheer sense of peace, relaxation, and deep understanding. I love that I can control the brightness of the lights, as my sensory needs change day-to-day and I can be quite sensitive to light.

I’ve been using Lumenate’s strobing technology for around two years, and it has genuinely changed my life. It’s the fastest way I’ve found to drop out of overstimulation, regulate my nervous system, and get clear insight when I feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure what my next step is.

I bought this during the quickstarter campaign and had high hopes. While it does what it's supposed to , it isn't quite what I expected. For me the LED isn't large enough to fully immerse my eyes in the light. In addition, It leaks quite a bit of light and bothers my wife at night when she's trying to sleep. In order to mitigate some of the light leakage I have to strap it down really tight which makes it very uncomfortable. I was hoping for better, but it does work.

I’m very pleased with the product. It helps create a completely immersive experience, which to be honest, is somewhat difficult to truly describe until you experiencing yourself. Ineffable I suppose…

This is the closest thing to magic I have experienced. I don't understand (yet) how or why this works - but it simply does.

My n=1 experience has been phenomenal. I am a first time user of their app. The very first time the light came on was a 'wow wtf!' moment. While the excitement has since faded, the effectiveness has not in the slightest. For me it helps de-escalate stressful thought patterns and create a clean slate for emotions reliably and much better than everything else I have tried (otc herbs, sauna, cold plunge, vagal stim etc.) Sleep has been relaxed and sound. My sessions are 10-15m. This to me is priceless.

If you evaluate this as a sound+light device with a mask strapped to it, you are missing the point and you will be underwhelmed. The value is in the orchestration (voice guidance + hardware) that works seamlessly, the effectiveness and simplicity. This could upgrade your life *if you have an issue it helps with*. Already sleep sound and have a blissful mind? Then skip it. If not give it a try. small price to pay IMO. But be patient, and be aware that your mileage might vary.

Makers of this device, TY for making this magic accessible! Please consider making these changes:
- please explain the science of this a bit better for the curious and skeptical ones like me
- automatically turn off device after 1h or so if unused (when going to bed with it)
- hybrid model that allows purchasing of tracks alongside subscription fee.
- ratings / reviews for tracks so users know how / whether they help
- I wish I got the lifetime app subscription when it was offered. perhaps you can offer it one more time to kickstarter members!
